Dual Core ARM Cortex A15
Its not even Easter and already we’ve got news of ARM speeding up their roadmap with news that its next generation system-on-chip, the Dual Core Cortex-A15 will be available in late 2012 rather then 2013. This is great news for Smartphones and tablets everywhere considering that this is when devices should be shipping and now when the silicon will be available. What’s further down the road but equally exciting is the Quad Core chip we’re expecting in 2013.

ARM currently is the processor behind most of the Smartphones and tablets currently on the market and with news that the single and dual core variants will also have earlier shipping dates is great news. ARM promises a stunning fivefold improvement in performance over current Cortex-A9 SOCs and already has NVIDIA, Samsung, ST-Ericsson, and Texas Instruments have already signed up to get their hands on this blazing fast processor. Samsung a few days ago launched news of its “desktop-class” 2GHz dual-core chip that’s slated for 2012, looks like we’re ramping up for a hot year in mobile computing!
